2025 – Fundación Aleatica’s Safe System Infrastructure Model (Mexico)
Just three years after its establishment, the Aleatica Foundation for Road Safety was recognised with the Prince Michael International Road Safety Award 2025, the highest global award in this field. The award highlights the comprehensive model focused on education, infrastructure and institutional collaboration, which seeks to contribute to the reduction of traffic accidents and strengthen the culture of road safety in Mexico and Latin America.
This model, based on engineering innovation, multisectoral partnerships and evidence-based interventions, provides a scalable guide for safer road infrastructure globally.
The Foundation is part of Aleatica, a global infrastructure operator to which the foundation belongs, a company that has developed a replicable road safety approach based on the Safe System in its road concessions in Mexico, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Great Britain, Spain and Italy. By implementing iRAP standards in eight major concessions and making specific investments in safety, it has achieved measurable reductions in deaths and serious injuries.
With this distinction, it becomes the first Mexican corporate foundation to receive this award, presented annually by His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent to the most outstanding initiatives that promote safe mobility and align their work with the United Nations’ second Decade of Action for Road Safety.
The Prince Michael International Road Safety Award is considered the most prestigious recognition in the world. It has distinguished governments, companies and organisations such as the FIA Foundation, the Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety, iRAP, the Safe Mobility Coalition and Fundación MAPFRE, among others. With this award, Fundación Aleatica joins this group of leaders who set the standard in promoting road safety globally.
“Receiving this award is recognition of the impact we generate at Fundación Aleatica. It confirms that our model of action based on evidence, results and constant collaboration not only inspires, but also has a real impact on the public agenda and on the construction of solutions for a safer, more humane and sustainable road system,” said Bosco Martí, President of Fundación Aleatica for Road Safety.
Since its creation, the Aleatica Foundation has strengthened its role as a key player in mobility and road safety by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with iRAP, incorporating safe infrastructure assessment methodologies and aligning itself with the new framework of the General Law on Mobility and Road Safety. They have also expanded their participation in public policy through the National Strategy for Mobility and Road Safety, promoting studies on the Points-Based Licence together with the Institute for Traffic and Road Safety Research at the University of Valencia and promoting spaces for technical dissemination.
Throughout its history and through collaborations with international organisations, various academic institutions and civil society organisations, it has consolidated a technical cooperation ecosystem that broadens the scope and sustainability of its results through programmes that have benefited more than 30,000 people.
The award ceremony took place in London, United Kingdom, during an event led by His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent, who presented the awards to the winning organisations in 2025.
